Reporting a Hate Crime

The Department of Justice recommends the following steps if you believe you are a victim or witness to a hate crime:

  1. Report the crime to your local police

  2. Contact the FBI online

  3. File a tip with your local FBI field office

  4. Find your local state attorney general's office and select "file a complaint"
